Quick summary
- 5th GT 2000: the one that goes farthest (70 to 90 km), but weighs over 64 kg. Pick the 1,000 W listing.
- 4th BW1: seat for two people, a battery with a key and about 50 km per charge. Charging costs about R$ 1.
- 3rd S20 Pro (and V20 Max for tall riders): the best equipped for the price, with an alarm, NFC, turn signals and a rear rack.
- 2nd V8 Pro S: two batteries, about 80 km and dual suspension. The single-battery V8 Pro does about 45 km.
- 1st V9 Max: the safest choice. The main listing alone passes 1,000 sales and it comes complete.
With hundreds of models and every listing promising more than 100 km, the market is full of traps. Luan picked five bikes, one for each type of person, and explains the listing detail that fools people looking for number one.
The listing traps
Some listings promise 120 km when owners of the bike say 80 km, and a promotion with a strikethrough price that was never the real price. What the listing promises is with everything in its favor: your weight, hills and riding with the throttle hard take mileage away.
The 1,000 W and 32 km/h law
Only a bike that leaves the factory locked at 32 km/h and with a motor of up to 1,000 W can ride without a plate and without a license in Brazil. Going over either one, it becomes treated as a moped and may require a plate and license, even seizure. That's why, in the GT 2000's case, Luan says to choose the listing that says 1,000 W, because the same brand sells abroad a version with double the power.
The five places
GT 2000 (5th) for people who go far, always with the 1,000 W listing. BW1 (4th) for passenger and delivery, with a removable battery with a key. S20 Pro (3rd), the best equipped, with an alarm, NFC, turn signals, a rear rack and a bag with a phone mount, and the V20 Max for tall riders, with a bigger wheel and more comfort, but heavier. V8 Pro S (2nd), with two batteries, shocks front and rear and hydraulic brakes. V9 Max (1st), with a shock, hydraulic brakes, alarm, turn signals, passenger seat and NFC.
The misleading detail on the V9 Max
Many listings put 48 km in the title. Whoever reads it thinks it's the range, but it's the speed it reaches unlocked. From the factory, it's locked at 32 km/h. With one battery, it does about 40 km for real. With two, about 70 to 80 km, and on the two-battery version there's one with a bigger battery that goes a bit farther, so check the listing.
Prices mentioned in the video
At the time, the GT 2000 was available from R$ 9,749, the BW1 from R$ 6,044, the V8 Pro S from R$ 8,467 and the single-battery V9 Max from R$ 5,959, the lowest price in 20 days. Luan warns that the price of several of them goes up and down every week.
